Joyce Stengel, MSN, RN, and CNOR, has worked in multiple roles in the operating room, including being the coordinator of quality and safety, nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, unit council chair, and staff nurse. Joyce’s expertise directly relates to defining standards of care relating to patient safety and quality. Joyce has conducted root cause analyses, created department policies, and coordinated quality assessment and improvement activities. She integrates professional standards from multiple sources and evidence-based practice in the development and evaluation of safety and quality initiatives. Joyce has organized and conducted fire safety training for employees, including emergency response drills. Joyce has investigated and analyzed accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. In addition, Joyce manages with a high energy level and has an impeccable standard of ethics. Joyce has authored articles and presented at national conferences in addition to webinar and poster presentations. She was also a winner of the OR Excellence Award for Environmental Stewardship and an abstract reviewer for the American Nurses Association and the ANCC National Magnet Conference.

 

Joyce completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Villanova University and her Master of Science in Nursing with an educational focus from the University of Phoenix. Joyce attained her certification in operating room nursing and works as an adjunct professor at Drexel and Widener University, teaching perioperative nursing.
